BIT ABOUT YOURSELF IE: FAMILY, WORK, HOBBIES ETC:
I was born and brought up in Ashbourne, and attended the local secondary school. On leaving school I attended the Technical College located in Kedleston road Derby, where I achieved technical qualifications in Hairdressing and technology connected with the subject. Presently I am employed as a dental receptionist at white Peak dental practice located in Compton, Ashbourne. I am married to Martin, who is a serving member, and former President, of Ashbourne and district Lions club. During the past I have assisted him with his activities in the club with such roles as press & PR and fund raising chairman. He is now President of the Ex-Servicemen's Club. Martin and myself have three children and four grand children.
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT IE: SCHOOL GOVERNOR, OTHER COMMITTEE INVOLVEMENT:
I feel that in the coming years I could play a part in improving the local community in many ways. I have, over the last few years found it challenging but also rewarding playing a part with my husband raising funds for such things as, local school projects, hospital equipment, the local leisure centre etc. Helping members of the community who are in some cases less advantaged than others. All the amenities in the town are important, but the elderly and disadvantaged should never be forgotten. Quality of life has to be the number one priority for the town as a whole.
WHAT YOU CAN DO TO IMPROVE THE COMMUNITY:
Over the coming years, as very much a local girl through and through, I feel it a privilege to play my part to improve the town in as many ways as possible.
