BIT ABOUT YOURSELF IE: FAMILY, WORK, HOBBIES ETC:
I was born in Bedfordshire but has since lived in many counties across England and Wales, leaving Somerset to live in Ashbourne 18 months ago.
My main career was in Fire and Rescue Services, I joined at the age of 18 years and advancement through the ranks led me to being appointed Chief Fire Officer in Gloucestershire and then in Devon from where I retired from operational service after 33 years. I was then appointed H.M. Inspector of Fire Services for 7 years and was Chief Executive Of the Fire Service College. There-after I spent 10 years as a Risk Management Consultant.
Apart from a keen interest in local government, I enjoy travelling and riding a motorcycle which is a lifelong passion I am always busy on some form of DIY. I have two very grown-up daughters and a very demanding very small dog.
I was awarded the OBE for Public Service and the Queen's Fire Service Medal for Distinguished Service
