Councillor Edward Brown
Councillor
Ashbourne Town Council
HOW LONG SERVED ON THE COUNCIL:
I've served on the council since 2022. My reason for joining the council was because there was a vacant seat and I thought I had something to offer and help a hard-working team to continue to keep Ashbourne a great place to live.
Committees and Representative
- Finance
- Planning
- Community & Environment
- Town Council representative for Ashbourne Christmas Committee
- Town Council representative for Ashbourne 50+ Forum
BIT ABOUT YOURSELF IE: FAMILY, WORK, HOBBIES ETC:
I've lived in Ashbourne all my life, and I feel very lucky to live here. There is nowhere else I'd rather be! There are 6 of us in our family , my wife and I , 3 girls and 1 boy making it very busy but also giving me fantastic support and help to be a councillor.
My standard working hours are 55 hours a week including call outs so time for hobbies can be a little tricky but when I do grab a free day, I enjoy clay pigeon shooting and have recently re-found my love for fishing believe it or not I still find time to be in the gym 7 days a week, normally at 6 o'clock in the morning before work . I like to keep busy.
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT IE: SCHOOL GOVERNOR, OTHER COMMITTEE INVOLVEMENT:
I'm not part of any other committees. The thought had crossed my mind, but I asked myself a question. "How can you give Ashbourne town council your 100 percent involvement if you're concentrating on other committees" The answer is you can't.
WHAT YOU CAN DO TO IMPROVE THE COMMUNITY:
I can bring the views of the younger generation and a better connection between Ashbourne and this age group .This question is great because I could write an essay full of promise, my achievements go before of me and the proof is in the pudding. Here's a rule a rule I live by "Look at what people are already doing and done, not what they say that they are going to do".
